Private LTE network supports advanced monitoring of tailings dam walls.

A tier 1 Bowen Basin mine has connected its sensors on a tailings dam to a private network that enables advanced monitoring to ensure the dam's integrity, stability, and help prevent disasters.

Problem:

Continuous shifting of material in tailings dams can cause landslides or collapse of the dam over time, resulting in catastrophic human and environmental damage. Earthquakes, heavy rainfall and increased deposits can also weaken the strength and stability of the dam's embankment, discharging the tailings into the environment.  

Solution:

Tekko conducted a technology discovering exercise and recommended a single cell private LTE solution, followed by full engineering, procurement, construction, and management of the network that now provides a secure and reliable connection with the sensors that monitor the stability of the dam walls.

Result:

The tailings dam facility is now monitored by sensors that provide reliable, real-time monitoring of the tailings dam walls via a private LTE network, helping to protect lives and prevent environmental harm. Tekko worked closely with our dedicated team of suppliers and partners, to complete this project under tough time constraints and supply chain disruption.
